About the lecture
Symmetries are a latent, and sometimes obvious, part of nature and matter. As a result, they are also part of human creations, particularly in architecture and art, where they have been a common pattern over the centuries. We will examine some of these symmetrical patterns in Granada's most notable monuments, looking for their rules, their singularities and their breaks, and exploring the relationship between artistic styles and how they treat symmetry. A mathematical perspective on the history of art in Granada.
