About the lecture

Peter Brook, one of the most influential directors of contemporary theatre, used to say that “the unexpected has no limits”. And so it is. For example, science can be found in unexpected places, such as the admission speeches of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE).

These texts are very specific essays on a subject and, also, a snapshot of society, art and science in different historical contexts.

This talk aims to be a brief and entertaining review of those discourses in which science passes through the prism of the words of artists and academics.

The view is that of an astrophysics researcher, theatre lover and… Italian, who, by getting words wrong so often and consulting the RAE so many times, has found a lot of science. Science in the words of the RAE is an unexpected and inspiring surprise worth sharing.
